Radisson Aquatica Resort Barbados – View With a Room

The Radisson Aquatica Resort Barbados likely would not fit most anyone’s definition of a nice hotel. At least not in the state that I found it in upon checking in here in late-October 2023. The property (originally a Holiday Inn) dates back to 1965…and it really, really shows.

The facade bears scars decades in the making. Faded paint, cracks, and rust abound. En-suite bathrooms are wildly outdated as well. Interior hallway carpeting evokes a 1970s/80s chic. The dirty, musty kind. All of this despite the hotel having undergone a US$8 million renovation in 2013.

Still, I can’t wait to check back in here. The view pictured here is one big reason why.

Starting Each Day With a Smile

That gorgeous sight greeted me each morning of my weeklong stay in room #507 at the Radisson Aquatica Resort Barbados, the broad and beautifully sun-kissed expanse of Carlisle Bay ensuring that my days always started with a smile.

Indeed, for me, the view was enough to make me forget all of the resort’s failings. At the same time, though, it’s not the only great thing about the Radisson Aquatica.

Radisson Aquatica Resort Barbados Superior Staff

Like any truly great hotel, it’s the people that really make the Radisson Aquatica a special place to stay. In all my travels throughout the Caribbean, I can scarcely remember ever encountering a more genuinely warm and friendly staff. From the bartenders and waitstaff to the front desk attendants, housekeepers, and beach attendants – everyone made me feel like a VIP.

Here’s hoping the resort’s owners usher in some new upgrades soon to match its amazing location and even better people.
