Deal of the Week: Uncommonly Good Black Friday-Cyber Monday Savings
Nothing makes me want to escape to a place like this quite like Black Friday. Like most guys, I’m not much for shopping on any day, never mind the color. Black Friday, though, ups the ante on my shopping angst like no other day. Even if you’re careful to steer clear of the malls, there’s no avoiding the increased traffic and endless media noise touting a seemingly unending parade of unbelievable “deals of the year” that you simply just can’t miss.
Believe me, I’m happy to miss them, especially if I get to do it anywhere near the pool pictured above.
If the frenzy of Black Friday has you wanting to escape to the Caribbean as well, here are a few uncommonly good deals launched expressly for the Black Friday to Cyber Monday peak shopping weekend…
Save 60% or 55% on Travel to Aruba
If any of my recent stories on Aruba have inspired you to look into booking a trip to the One Happy Island, then this is the deal for you! My friends at the Holiday Inn Resort Aruba are offering savings of 60% off all-inclusive rates and 55% off EP rates for resort stays throughout 2011. Eligible bookings must be made between today and Monday (Nov. 26-29), a three-night minimum stay is required, and you can travel just about any time in 2011 (travel window: Jan. 3 to Dec. 23, 2011). The only blackout dates are Feb. 18-24, March 4-10 and April 19-23, so you can even be sure to be in Aruba for the big 70th anniversary party at Charlie’s Bar in San Nicholas! For reservations, or call 1-800-HOLIDAY.
BOGO (Buy One, Get One) Savings in The Bahamas
Actually, this is a “buy two, get two” deal, as in you get two nights free when you book at least two nights at the Our Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort. Bookings gotta’ be made between today and Monday (Nov. 26-29), and the travel window covers virtually the entire peak winter travel period (Dec. 1, 2010 to April 15, 2011). Major holidays are blacked out, of course, but that still leaves plenty of long winter weekends to choose from (tip: include a Wednesday night so you don’t miss the best midweek party in the Caribbean). For reservations, call Our Lucaya at 866-870-7148, or click here to access their website.
Free Wine & Room Upgrade in Jamaica
There’s hardly ever a time when you can’t find an incredible deal at the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort Montego Bay. After all, the Holiday Inn brand has been synonymous with value for 60 years, and this is the only Holiday Inn property in the world where all-inclusive is the only booking option. So instead of slashing prices even further for Black Friday (savings are already set at 60% off published rates for Jan. 2 to Feb. 28, 2011 travel), the resort is giving guests who make bookings between today and Monday (Nov. 26-29) the gift of a one category room upgrade and a free bottle of wine. A three-night minimum stay is required and eligible travel must take place between Nov. 26, 2010 and June 23, 2011 (blackout dates apply). For reservations, visit them online, or call 888-288-6006.
Save Half-Off & Sail Free in St. Thomas
Speaking of unique all-inclusives, the Bolongo Bay Beach Resort is one of the few you’ll find in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It’s also the only one in the Territory with its own catamaran, Heavenly Days, which I can tell you from experience offers several incredible half- and full-day sail excursions. Best of all, the place is family-owned, giving it a nice, personal feel that’s a lot like staying with old friends. Fittingly, Bolongo is offering a very friendly price on oceanview rooms booked today – $135 per night for single or double occupancy. That’s a 50% savings! The deal applies for resort stays enjoyed between today, Nov. 26, and Dec. 22, 2010. There’s no minimum length of stay, but those staying five nights or more also get a free sail aboard Heavenly Days. To get in on this deal, you gotta’ book by midnight tonight! Reservations: 800-524-4746.
