The Devil’s Tail Cocktail – Unleash Your Inner Demon This Halloween

Rum and vodka pair well together at my house, though usually not in the same glass. The wife likes vodka, you see, while I, of course, am a rum man. In the Devil’s Tail Cocktail, though, I think we may have found a recipe we can agree to enjoy together.

Apropos of the Halloween season, the Devil’s Tail is blood-red in appearance, a tad on the sweet side, and fairly deadly in the potency department. Rum and vodka are joined by an apricot liqueur to make this tipple frightfully strong.

The one pictured here, which I just mixed up this afternoon, is also scary-delicious, thanks in no small part to my choice of rum – Neptune Three Year Aged Gold.

Ingredients:
  • 1-1/2 oz Neptune 3-Year Aged Gold Rum
  • 1 oz Vodka
  • 2 tsp Lime Juice
  • 2 tsp Grenadine
  • 1 tsp Apricot Liqueur
  • 3 oz Crushed Ice

One of the newest and tastiest gold rums to come from Barbados, Neptune has been busy winning awards (and rum fans) at major spirits competitions around the world since its initial launch in the UK just last year. As for the U.S. market, it’s set to debut over on this side of the pond soon.

Stay tuned for a full review detailing what makes Neptune my new favorite gold rum in the coming weeks.

Getting back to the Devil’s Tail, arguably the best thing about it is just how sinfully easy it is to make. Here’s how…

Directions

Step 1: Combine all ingredients in a blender at low speed for 15 seconds.

Step 2: Strain and serve straight up.

Yeah, you could get a little fancy and add a twist of lime, but honestly, who has time for all that at a real Halloween party, right? It’s enough for me find a blender!

Believe me, though, this bloody good cocktail is worth the effort…

Cheers + Happy Halloween!
