The sands along remote Castara Bay in northeastern Tobago are not your typical beach lover's picture of pristine.

It's easy to achieve the most wonderful sense of absolute freedom at Gun Cay, a tiny islet in the Bimini archipelago of The Bahamas.

With the last few rays of sunlight slowly fading away, it's the perfect time for a quickie kayak in la Baie du Cul-de-Sac, St. Martin.

During the summer months, as the sun shifts her daily track, the sweet shores along Davis Bay make for some truly memorable St Croix sunsets.

I'm generally not so good with clouds that conspire against my sunset fun, though not in the case of the scene above.

Perfectly placid warm seas lapping at a smiling crescent of supple sand – the exposure, due west; the vibe, pure niceness.
