Immanuel Methodist Church – My Choice Wedding Spot in Anguilla
You’re anything but traditional. You zig when others zag. You like to be different in everything you do, so when it comes time for you to tie the knot, some old church like this one just won’t do. But, what if your significant other is a traditionalist? What if he/she has her heart set on the fairytale church wedding? If that’s the case, then the Immanuel Methodist Church in Anguilla may end up suiting you both just fine.
For a small island with a considerable reputation for seaside parties and ultra-luxe villa pampering, Anguilla has a surprising number of uniquely charming churches that I think would appeal to any couple wishing to get hitched in an uncommon, yet still traditional setting.
Inspiring Immanuel Setting
Immanuel Methodist, in particular, would work for me. The church rests atop a hill with Meads Bay a short walk away. The surrounding area is very quaint and residential. It no doubt lends itself to easy mixing with locals after mass. In short, the setting is pure magic.
The church itself, though, is a tad worse for wear these days. It sustained significant damage during Hurricane Irma in 2017. According to a September 2020 update on the church’s Facebook page, though, restoration efforts are well underway.
(The new green trim and large red cross are an especially nice new touches.)
Marvelously Modest Immanuel Methodist Church
If the newly-restored Immanuel Methodist is anything like it was when I first visited back in 2012, then it won’t be anything fancy. The old structure was humble and cozy – just the way I’d like it if I was getting married.
